NSJF Announces Nominees for 22nd Pulsar Sports Awards

 KATHMANDU, September 7 – The Nepal Sports Journalists Forum (NSJF) has revealed the nominees for the 22nd Pulsar Sports Awards, which recognize the best athletes and coaches of 2081 BS.

Five finalists have been selected in four categories: Male Player, Female Player, Youth Player, and Coach of the Year.

  • Male Player of the Year nominees: Cricketers Dipendra Singh Airee and Kushal Bhurtel, wrestler Bijay Sinjali, table tennis player Shantu Shrestha, and kho kho player Janak Chand.

  • Female Player of the Year nominees: Erika Gurung, footballer Rekha Paudel, Elisha Raskoti Magar, kho kho player Manmati Dhami, and volleyball player Salina Shrestha.

  • Youth Player of the Year nominees: Ajay BK (athletics), Anjali Maharjan (karate), Pooja Mahato (cricket), Swastika (boxing), and Sameer Tamang (football).

  • Coach of the Year nominees: Kabiraj Negi Lama (para taekwondo), Kushal Shrestha (karate), Deepak Maharjan (boxing), Mahesh Rijal (cricket), and Lakshmi Narayan Baidya (kho kho).

The winners will be announced at a special ceremony in Pokhara on September 14.

KHOTANG, February 28 – The First National Bamboo Conference is currently being held in Diktel Bazaar, running from February 27 to March 1. The event was officially opened at the Khotang Multi-Purpose Covered Hall, and an exhibition showcasing various bamboo products is taking place nearby at the Matikore playground. The event is organized mainly by Diktel Rupakot Majhuwagadhi Municipality. Even the welcome gate and stage at the venue are built using bamboo. Gold prices keep going up

  Kathmandu, June 18 — Gold prices have been rising in the international market since June 10, and this has also pushed up prices in Nepal. When the market opened today, the price of gold had gone up by Rs 900 per tola (11.66 grams) compared to Tuesday, while silver rose by Rs 65 per tola. According to the Federation of Nepal Gold and Silver Dealers’ Association, gold is now being traded at Rs 195,500 per tola, and silver at Rs 2,225 per tola. International reports show that gold is currently priced at 3,393 US dollars per ounce in the global market.

Johannes Zutt Named New World Bank Vice President for South Asia

  June 30, Kathmandu – The World Bank has named Johannes Zutt as its new Vice President for the South Asia Region, replacing Martin Raiser. He will officially take on the role starting July 1, 2025. In this position, Zutt will oversee the World Bank’s work in Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, the Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka. He will manage a portfolio of projects, financial support, and technical assistance worth $39 billion. Under his leadership, the World Bank aims to continue its focus on key challenges in the region, such as job creation, climate resilience, disaster preparedness, improving human capital, and encouraging private investment.
