Surkhet police have arrested five people with a large amount of opium and fake currency. The suspects were presented to the public in Birendranagar on Tuesday by the District Police Office, Surkhet.

Those arrested include 22-year-old Dilmaya Singh Thakuri from Jajarkot, her brother Ram Bahadur Singh (33), and Krishna Bahadur Wali (35), also from Jajarkot. Prem Bahadur BK (38) from Surkhet and Man Bahadur Sahakari from Kalikot—who runs a media company in Kohalpur, Banke—were also taken into custody.

Police seized 30 kg of opium worth around Rs 9 million and counterfeit currency worth Rs 1.3 million. According to the initial investigation, the group had already exchanged about Rs 200,000 of fake notes for real ones, mainly paying local traders in Surkhet and Jajarkot while buying opium.
