Police in Surkhet have arrested five people with 30 kilograms of opium and counterfeit currency worth Rs 1.3 million. The suspects were caught during a recent operation by the District Police Office and are currently under investigation.

Police in Surkhet have arrested five people and seized a large amount of opium and fake currency. The arrests were made public by the District Police Office in Birendranagar on Tuesday.
Those arrested include 22-year-old Dilmaya Singh Thakuri from Kushe Rural Municipality-5, Jajarkot, her brother Ram Bahadur Singh (33), and Krishna Bahadur Wali (35) from Kushe-7. SP Sudhir Raj Shahi, head of the Surkhet police, confirmed their identities.
Also arrested were 38-year-old Prem Bahadur BK from Bheriganga Municipality-12, Surkhet, and Man Bahadur Sahakari from Naraharinath Rural Municipality-4, Kalikot. Sahakari currently runs a media company named Janagarjan Media Pvt. Ltd in Banke’s Kohalpur Municipality-11, New Road.
Police recovered counterfeit currency worth Rs 1.3 million and opium valued at around Rs 9 million. The preliminary investigation revealed that the group had already exchanged about Rs 200,000 in fake currency for real money, which was mostly used to buy opium from traders in Surkhet and Jajarkot.
