Six Kilograms of Illegal Drugs Seized in Surkhet, 44 People Arrested

Karnali, July 13 — The District Police Office in Surkhet has intensified efforts to control crime, resulting in the seizure of nearly 7 kilograms of illegal drugs and the arrest of 44 individuals—39 men and 5 women—over the past two months.

Superintendent of Police Sudhir Raj Shahi said the confiscated substances include 35 grams of brown sugar, 17.36 grams of hashish, 5 kilograms of opium, 240 grams of marijuana, and 362 tablets of banned drugs.

In addition, 21 people were arrested for gambling, and three hotel operators were taken into custody for allegedly running prostitution activities. Police say they are continuing strict surveillance to maintain law and order in the district.
