The Kagbeni-Korola road has been blocked by a landslide, disrupting travel in the area. Authorities are working to clear the debris and reopen the road soon.

Mustang, July 16 — The Kagbeni-Korala section of the Jomsom-Korala road, a national pride project connecting northern and southern Mustang, has been blocked by a landslide following heavy rainfall last night.

According to the District Police Office, the landslide occurred early this morning in the Manebhir area, about 200 meters north of Kagkhola in Kagbeni. Large rocks and debris fell onto the road, making it impassable.

Deputy Superintendent of Police Chhiring Kippa Lama said that bulldozers and personnel have been deployed to clear the road. However, the presence of large boulders means it may take some time before the road is fully reopened. For now, efforts are being made to allow at least motorcycles and light vehicles to pass.

As a result of the blockage, all vehicular movement to Upper Mustang has been halted.

Meanwhile, due to last night's rain, the water level in the Kali Gandaki River has risen significantly. The District Administration Office has urged residents living near the river to stay alert and take necessary precautions.
